UPS... holy cow, are you kidding me?!?!?
« on: July 05, 2007, 09:59:07 AM »

OK I had sold my WT550 to a guy up north... long story short, get an e-mail from his MOM.... unauthorized purchase, send out intercept order to UPS... and this is how it is returned to me.... rack ears all bent to heck, and I just know it will be toast.

Now remember this is the amp I am sending right out to Radub1 because his WT-800 was stolen out of his Durango!! Well believe it or not, this bad boy fired up, played it about 15-20 minutes.... NO PROBLEM!!! The rack ears twisted but took all of the brunt of the abuse. The case is unmarked, and the screws cae out, and went right back in.... didn't even strip the screws. Amazing build...
NICE DESIGN JOB DAVID!!!!!!

It looks more like the rack case collapsed first and the rack ears had no option but to bend from the inertia. The energy to bend the aluminum/plastic case is probably less than it would take to hurt the amp. Whew!

Wow, that's actually a decent case for relatively weak rack ears. They seem to have absorbed all the damage. Still, though, did they throw that off the roof?

Fumble off the truck.  Eden amps can really handle the abuse!

It looks like it took a good fall and landed on the right side.  The unsupported back end of the amp fell a little further than the front.

UPS has a 12' drop in the sorting facility if an item has to travel a certain distance - at least this is what I was told when I received back a certain 2x10 that had succumbed to this type of behavior...

A couple of years ago, I would agree. These days, even FedEx can be dicey.
Funny that this thread should be reserected a year later because I'm starting to see a patern of "don't give a f**k" with all of our shipping services. Some to the point of suggesting deliberate vandalism. Whether it's US Parcel post (the worse!), UPS, FedEx, etc., it's probably better not to emblazen your package with "Fragile" stickers. I think that invites the scum that works the late-night shift to say "This is insured....let's break it just for fun".
Sad where the integrity of the collective American mind is going....

I'd like to know how many times David Eden has sent out new gear from ups/fedex failings.....
