AMP Expansion Question
« on: June 26, 2007, 01:55:03 PM »
I'm considering a rig upgrade (future) - addition of an AMP to my WT550. My D210XST and D212XLT are both 4 ohm ... I'm therefore running my WT550 at 2 ohm. What would you recommend in terms of an additional amp/wattage relative to my current rig (I don't want to overpower the cabs) - if anything. Also, if I'm running 2 x 4 ohm cabs/WT550 at 2 ohms, would the added AMP have to be able to run at 2 ohms also ???

Thanks in advance ... [?][:)]

You would have to find a mono powered amp capable of 2ohms or you could find a stereo amp capable of driving a cabinet off each side at 4 ohms, that might be a little easier.

As far as Eden amps are concerned, I know the WT800B could run each cabinet at 440 watts. The WT1205 is a little more powerful i suppose.

You know, just get the WT1250 power amp, You can use your WT550 as a preamp and run it right into the 1250.

Now I want to go buy something...

if you are running at two ohms on the 550, thats 375 watts in each cah cabinet, you would need at least that much in the other cabinets, or lower your volume to fit, i thought of this too, if i had the 1550  the amp has 750 each side at it lowest point, and useing the 550 ,i now have 3X750, thats loud, but watts nice is you can,use all the amps at 4 or 8 ohms and still rock out, good luck, but this is my OPINION
