Agreed.
I might build a new enclosure instead of reviving the existing.

Nice amp David! When you take the grill off to straighten it, you could repaint it too, with an oil based paint from a rattle can. That would clean it up nicely.
There are knobs available on eBay too. They come in blue, gray and red. I think you need blue and gray to put it back to original.

Here's a pic of another Nemesis amp with all the knobs.

You could put the gray ones on the gain and master volume, and the blue on the rest. Or vice versa.
Have fun with your new toy. I bet it sounds great.

Rebuilding the enclosure could be a problem.  Eden enclosures are designed for Eden speakers, all sorts of technical Thiele-Small stuff, so you'd have to duplicate the build exactly if you wanted the same sound characteristics.  For the same reason putting non-Eden speakers into an Eden enclosure won't give you that sound either.  Stick with the cosmetics - there are threads on the forum where people have rebuilt these cabs.  They are pretty indestructible as well (look for my escalator incident is the disasters file).

I hear you. I think I was just tossing ideas about.

I took some time this afternoon and gave it a clean.
Removed the grill and wiped off 30 years of grime.
Dusted the speaker cones and wiped all the accumulated dust from the baffle and port
Flattened the grill and put it back. Much better!
Removed all the knobs and wiped major grime from the control panel and back.
I removed the amp assembly and removed all the grit and junk from the crevices.
Put it all back together and noted that three of the screws spun so there a bit of wood glue and toothpicks in their future.
Oh and I refastened the handle on top.

Here a few pics of the interior.

Thanks Jim, I've emailed that store owner to see if he's got another pair of grey knobs as I want to replace all of them. I need a total of eight and he's got six.

David, there were plenty on eBay if that seller doesn't have what you need.

You really cleaned things up well. It looks good! You practically stole that amp. I assume it all works correctly.

It works great.
Doesn’t rattle like a paint can now.
I’m surprised by the light construction of the cabinet.  It’s only 1/2” ply for the baffle and back. The box is some kind of wood composite.
All the weight of the amp comes from the power supply and speakers.

Sweet!
I found really close matches for the knobs with red and blue tops, new corners and a new strap for $30.
I love the internet!

Hey David,

Yeah the cabinets of the NC's (Nemesis Combo's) were made out of a composite material that is quite light.  Here's the blurb from the catalog on it:

"Utilizing new composite materials, we have created cabinets that are not only environmentally friendly, but stronger, lighter, and better sounding than traditional plywood enclosures."

I think it was some sort of cellulose composite.  By 2008 they were back to constructing them out of plywood again.

Thanks Dan.
I thought I had read something about composites being used for cabinets.
Do you have the full catalog entry for the amp?

Hi David,

There's really not much to the catalog entry.  The manual has all the specifics.  Nonetheless, I do have a pdf copy I can send you.  Just PM me with your e-mail and I'll send it out to you.  Take a look on the back of the amp and let me know what year it was made, if you don't mind.
