NC 200
« on: July 09, 2019, 10:06:24 PM »
Hey everyone,
I’m looking at a used NC200.
Looks to be in reasonable shape but is a bit dirty and dog eared.

I’m a beginner bassist. I currently play through an Ampeg BA10-8.
It’s ok, but lacks any real tone and certainly is not big enough to use anywhere other than home.

So I’ve seen a couple of Eden amps. The NC200 is appealing to me because it’s small enough so it’s not intrusive (I live in a very small house) but is large enough to likely play anywhere I might see myself in the foreseeable future.

Looking for any gotcha’s with these units and if there’s parts like knobs and badges available.
Many thanks in advance!

Is this the amp you're looking at? Local pickup in Chicago?

It looks like a very nice amp, and will be good for smaller rooms and practice. It looks like you can add an extension cab in the back. Adding a 4 ohm 4x10 cab would give you more volume if you needed it.

Not sure which NC you're looking at - diiferent speakers but the same NC200 power unit.  Here is the manual which should be an interesting read - https://edenamps.net/assets/4012.046_nc200a-1996-(revision-iv).pdf
UK member, WT330, WTX260, 2 x EX112 (both 4 ohm), WTDI, and a Microtour as well as a Roland Super Cube Bass, Blackstar HT5, Fender Jazz '67, Fretless Fender Jazz '70, Burns Barracuda, Epiphone EB-0, Ashbory, Stagg EUB and guitars and ukuleles and a mandolin as well

Actually it's a 2-10 model. If I understand correctly they are all the same amp unit configured with different speaker arrangements.

Thanks Paul for providing the manual!

David, this manual will help you dial in your tone, so it's a good idea to get familiar with it.
I run thru my list each time I set the amp up again. It will help to dial in the room you're playing in. The same room can sound different on a given day due to changes in temperature and humidity, so I start new each time before I turn it on. (Each Eden amp manual can be slightly different for setup).
Changing any of the dials from the flat position can go a long way, even one or two notches can change the sound, so make changes in small increments and play some as you go.

I am 'technologically challenged' so if someone else on here tells you something different than what I say, defer to them over me. Lol.
The folks here are very knowledgeable and glad to help. I believe in Eden products and think you have chosen a great starter amp.

Good luck!
Jim

And the amp is mine!
It's a bit rough but sounds amazing.
Needs a new corner, the knobs are a tired and the padding on the handle is pretty much done.
Now I feel like I'm in the big leagues! Or at least not in T-ball anymore!

Congrats David!

Now...Rule #1 applies...you must post pictures!   If you don't post pictures, it didn't happen!

You'll need to have your picture hosted somewhere and then post the link so we can see it.

You are going to love this!

Thanks Rip!
I had to jet to work or I would have snapped a few pics.
I found knobs at Full Compass but no luck on corners. There are some JBL corners that look like they could work but not sure yet.

Here's a few snaps of the Beast!
Front grill needs some gentle hammer work to flatten it out.

The DI Out knob is completely gootched.

Knob are missing the centre buttons so are cover in masking tape and marked...

Apparently it's a 1996 model!

One thing is certain. Every single fastener needs to be tightened! I was just thumping a bit with my PJ and the cabinet rattles like a paint can!
