Advice about connecting 2 cabs to amp (newbee)
« on: July 03, 2019, 06:21:21 AM »
Hi newbee here and just wondering if I was to connect the following cabs to my TERRA NOVA TN226 (250watts) amp would all be ok
EX1158 (300watts 8ohms)
EX1124 (300watts 4ohms)
I’m only new to all this so would be ever grateful for the advice you guys could offer me.
And I just practice in my room so there’s no chance of me ever going overboard on the volume
Again thank you in advance as this is my first post ever
Greg

Hi Greg and welcome to the Garden!

The TN226 can handle a maximum load of 4 Ohm. So the impedance can not be lower than 4 Ohm.
That could be two 8 Ohm cabs or one 4 Ohm cab.
So the answer is no, because of a to high load/ to low impedance. 4 Ohm cab and 8 Ohm cab results in a 2.6 Ohm load.
Rock on!

Thanks so much for your reply, well took onboard what you said so today I exchanged the EX112 for an EX115 (only cost about 21 USD)
So again thanks for reply and sorry for taken so long to your response but I was thinking cos you guys are in the US it would be awhile for someone to read my question ( iam based in Ireland)
So from someone flying the flag for EDEN in Ireland
Thanks
Greg

As a UK based owner of two EX112s... welcome - as you can see I have a WTX260 which I use for one cabinet and a WT330 (which goes down to 2ohm) which I use with both EX112s, really love them, just wish I had more opportunities to use two with the WT330, as the combination sounds superb...
UK member, WT330, WTX260, 2 x EX112 (both 4 ohm), WTDI, and a Microtour as well as a Roland Super Cube Bass, Blackstar HT5, Fender Jazz '67, Fretless Fender Jazz '70, Burns Barracuda, Epiphone EB-0, Ashbory, Stagg EUB and guitars and ukuleles and a mandolin as well

Greg

That was exactly the experience I had from the first note I played through an Eden rig some 9 years ago.  That was after 40 years of chasing a sound to no avail. It was a ‘whoa baby, where have you been all my life” moment.

No knock on the Berg cabs, or Mesa, or Ampeg heads that seem to be all the rage, when you are playing live, nothing sounds as good,  and or sits as well in the mix as Eden.
