Stored Gear
« on: December 28, 2018, 02:48:31 PM »
Question about some interesting items:
1) WT405. In Eden box. There is a tag that says 'refurbished full warranty'. Where it says WT405, someone wrote with a pen 'E 240 volt'. On the other side, also in pen says 'export'. I opened the top of the box. Has Owners manual, and registration form. I looked at the cord, and its a 120. I pulled the amp up from the Styrofoam and it's still in sealed plastic, but it 120V was checked off. So, not sure why the box has E and 240V written in pen. Says assembled in China. It is obvious it has never been plugged in or turned on.

2) 2 x D112XLT8. In Eden box. Box says Custom Shop USA. I opened the top of the box on one and it is in sealed plastic.

According to the warehouse owner these have been here for 4 years. The space is air conditioned. My first question is what effect has 4 years of sitting in sealed factory plastic one to these items. My 2nd question is why does the Eden amp box say refurbished? Looks like it is brand new and never been touched. And, why the writing on the box about the 240 volt when the plug is 120 and the 120 in checked off on the amp? Any input would be appreciated.

Hi colson and welcome to the Garden.
a. I don't see a problem there.
b. I guess they used the wrong box, because the voltage is wrong and it says refurbished, but the amp is untouched.
When a warranty is offered I wouldn't mind buying it.
Rock on!

Thank you Bassman. So, 4 years sitting in the factory plastic and boxes does not present any concern for the speakers?

Well, the place is air conditioned, what can happen?
I still don't see a problem with that.

E 240 means that whatever was in the box should have been prepared for European power supplies so differs from the marking on the amp where the 120 is checked.  It is not a big job to convert it either way, if I remember there are tags inside that have to be moved and a wiring guide printed on the inside of the lid.  If the price is right go for it but check inside the lid to be certain before you plug it in.  Other than that for my money the 330/390/405 series were great sounding amplifiers...
