High Pass Filter
« on: August 15, 2018, 05:53:36 PM »
There has been a lot of buzz on Talk lately about these HFPs. It’s like the world will end if you don’t have one of these. Frankly, I haven’t blown a speaker in over 40 years, mainly because I avoid violating the laws of physics when playing.

I had a friend who  used to drive cars on the IMSCA circuit, and was equally abusive with his daily driver. His famous saying was, “If you drive it like race car, you pay for it like race car.

Personally and professionally, I don’t see the need. That said, for some, would this be a useful addition to the Eden family of products.

I believe there is one built-in internally.  The discussion on TB came about because a fellow used an 18" speaker with an old amp that did not have one built in, and he cranked the bass.  Blew one speaker and then did it again and blew a second.  A quote often attributed to Einstein defines insanity as "...doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."

Armin should be able to give you some info on high-pass filters on Eden amps.

on a regular (not ClassD) amp I don't see a reason to have one.
ClassD amps usually have one.
Rock on!

No schematics available!!! Don't ask for it.
