I couldn't resist...
« on: June 06, 2017, 01:24:02 PM »
Two weeks ago when I popped in at The Gallery in London, I stumbled over a nice Dingwall Super J, maple neck and the original pickup placement. A really, really nice bass. As I am a really, really stupid guy, well, you know the rest. It is on its way home now...

Originally a PJ, the P-pup and pick guard are in the package, but I'll keep it fully J, since I already have a Super P.

A beautiful couple...  ;) ;) ;)

+1  GAS strike again!

Great score Roger.  The maple neck against the black body is a striking combination.

Well, I've sold a sh*tload of gear recently, including my old Fender Telecaster Deluxe 1973 mocca brown, an acoustic upright, an acoustic bass guitar AND the 5 string Steinberger(!!!). I found that one too difficult to play after all. I have a 4 string on the way home instead. I also traded a Fender Am Deluxe Jazz V for a Peavey tube amp with 810 cab with a good friend. So I ain't that stupid after all. But almost.  ;D ;D ;D

Indeed it will...  ;)
I sold the 5 string Steinberger and got a 4 string instead. The 5 string wasn't useful for me. This one out:

What I really wanted, actually...

How did the 5'er not work for you?  Too close string spacing?

Exactly!
The same neck, just with one more string. Since the 4 string already is more narrow than a Fender - like an Alembic - the 5 string is more like a guitar.

Good score Roger. Those are some beautiful basses. Maple and black are one of my favorites.
GAS strikes again!  ;D

Well, now the Super J has arrived. What can I say? Smokin'!!!
My first real bass back in the stone age was a black Fender J'78 with maple neck. This one gives me the same vibe minus 5 kg. The tone is exactly what I want it to be, much thanx to the nice pisition of the bridge pickup, like 70's Jazz Basses. This is no longer an option at Dingwall; they have gone over to that dull sounding 60's placement.

...and a family pic.

Well, I sold my old Telecaster for a HEAP of money, so a cheaper guitar is on the way. Just to play at home.
