My old band The Mojo Roots is coming out of retirement.
We will be playing the MO Blues Society's Christmas bash in Jefferson City, Mo. on Dec. 11th at Michigan Place Banquet Center.
I am a board member of MO Blues Society and we were asked to reunite and play this fund raising event. The band is anxious to get together again and we've already gotten offers for other gigs. The news was out on Facebook for one day before these other offers came in, so we are considering starting back up.
We put the project down about two years ago due to the rigors of the road and some of us wanting to pursue other things. Located in Columbia, Mo. we used to travel a lot, averaging 65 jobs a year and working full time too. We played many area festivals in Missouri, Illinois and Kansas, and played the Chicago Blues Festival and The Amelia Island Blues Festival in northern Florida. We also won a spot in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee in 2013 and went to the semi finals.
There's a chance we could get get up and running hard again if we wanted, but I think we won't get as busy as we used to because it's too much work to do all that and work full time too. It's exciting news for us though.
