Preston Hubbard has passed...
« on: August 17, 2016, 08:04:44 PM »
Preston Hubbard, bassist for Roomful of Blues and The Fabulous Thunderbirds passed away today.
He was one of my favorite players to listen to, proficient in upright and electric bass.
RIP Prez!

Here's a link:
I didn't know that he was recruited by the Rolling Stones after Bill Wyman left the band.

I thought the link in my last post had the story about the Stones recruiting Preston, but it doesn't.
They wanted him to play for them, but he was either in prison or too strung out on drugs to play at the time and had to turn them down. Can you imagine that??

The online rag, American Blues Scene was started in nearby Columbia, Missouri by a guy named Matt Marshall. He traveled with my old band sometimes, promoting his magazine.

Funny how much things we know after someone is gone.
I actually started to listen to some of his music after you mentioned him here.

I found the story of him being recruited by The Stones was very interesting. He was a great player.
