Tom Clement "Anne" six string...
« on: July 14, 2015, 02:24:59 PM »
I have the opportunity to do a swap and get me this beautiful six string bass:

Chambered swamp ash body with top in Spanish cedar, one magnetic pickup and piezo bridge...

The neck is is a 5-layer neck made from mahogany and bubinga...

Compared to Tom's standard solid body SC the body is huge...

I really like this bass, it gives some Anthony Jackson vibe...

That attached upper horn ought to give the neck a lot of stability.

Chambered body - how much does it weigh?

I don't know, but I think it is rather light, since it is heavily chambered. (Pun intended...)

A single piece of swamp ash...

Chambered and painted black so the inside won't be visible through the "sound holes"...

With top on. All pic's from the builder's website...

The honey coloured is my US Lakland 55-94 Deluxe, the one partly visible is his brother the fretless Lakland Skyline 55-02. There are some more Lakies out of picture, but they are teasers...  ;D ;D ;D

The other "teasers" are these:

"Blue Joe"

"Black Bob"
Yesterday this one arrived:

Ozark 3516 Resophonic - a Chinese low budget bass that is surprisingly nice. I'll do a setup and polish the chrome and put on new strings before it moves upstairs...
Tomorrow this one arrives:

A nice Warwick Streamer Stage 1 Broad Neck 5. I played Warwicks a couple of years but miss them. Never had a Streamer, though...

Well, my first call bass, and probably the one that could be  my only bass if I had to choose, is most likely this beauty:

My US Lakland 55-94 Deluxe...

Very nice.... I'm just trying to get to grips with 4 strings let alone 5 or 6 but that looks fantastic.  8)

My Laklands are also my #1 basses.

Give one of those Sire MM basses a try. I was really surprised about the sound. But the Laki is more versatile.
