Dan!  That one was soooo bad, I'm not sure we should accept the apology.  Maybe you should plan to move - west  ;D

OK, OK.....I'm moving out west.   I'll leave here on Saturday April 18 and move to the Seattle,WA area (a mere 2,754 miles [4432.133 km]).  That does not mean you'll escape my bad puns, but at least I'm headed over to the other coast.   :P :P :P

So, keep the volume down, eh?  >:(

OK! Dan is doing a Frodo Baggins thing: going west...
What lures you over to that edge of the continent, Dan? Not the cries of seagulls, I presume... :D

Well, I recently had to retire from Orvis - the company I've worked for for the past 27 years - due to some health problems that just refused to go away.  I'm doing pretty well actually but not well enough to go back to work for them.   My wife's health has been poor for the last 5 years or so and she can barely get around the house.  Since I'm not working, I'm not getting paid.   At 64, I am old enough to collect Social Security though.  I've been paying into it for 50-years (since 1965) so I'm more than ready to start collecting from it.  While it's not much, we can get by on it if we're careful.  I also have a 401K with some money in it but not a lot.  So we'll have to be pretty careful with our expenses.

I'm originally from California and most of my family lives in either Napa, CA  or south of it a few hours in Santa Maria, CA (where I grew up).  My wife's family is in Oregon, and we lived there from the mid-70's to the late 80's.  We still have some good friends there.  So we're moving back to an area where family and friends can help in an emergency and we can get together on holidays.

Good news is my wife's best friend (been like a sister to her since grade-school) lives in Duvall, WA.   She has a very large house on a hill with a large in-law apartment on the bottom floor.  She's going to rent us that apartment for a song.  Also, I am a dyed in the wool fly-fisher and I taught the Orvis West Coast Fly-Fishing School for 10-years.  I love to fish for steelhead and there are some world-famous steelhead rivers just a few miles from where we'll be living.  So I'll be able to fly-fish there just about year around and perhaps make a little extra teaching private lessons and/or guiding if my health will allow.

AND, as you well know, the Seattle area has a very active music scene, so I'm hoping to get in with a good group and make some $$ doing that.

Should be grand adventure! ??? ::) :P 8)

Sounds like the best of all the options there Dan!

Hope the move works for you and your wife and puts you in a better place for your retirement years (although it doesn't sound like you're actually planning to retire from work.  ;D )

Well, I actually have retired.  I'm hoping that gives me more time to play music and go fly-fishing.  Moving to Washington should give me the opportunity for both of those.   8) 8)
