The Passing of an Alltime Great
« on: October 25, 2014, 08:13:49 PM »
It was with much saddness to read about the passing of Jack Bruce. In my early year sof a bassist, he influenced me more than any other bassist. RIP Jack, A true original.

Hear, hear - I first saw Jack playing  double bass as a stand-in at the Richmond Jazz and Blues Festival in 1964 with a Louis Jordan style combo - then with Graham Bond and then, of course, with Cream, including the now (it seems) legendary gig at the Regents Street Polytechnic where Jim Hendrix made his UK appearance in front of a larger audience (as portrayed in the current Jimi Hendrix biopic) - went to see the film yesterday evening only to come home to the news of Jack - RIP...

R.I.P. Jack!

A great influence for sure, even I never liked his intonation on the Warwick 5 string fret less. A big loss.
