Nathan East
« on: September 19, 2013, 06:26:23 PM »
Surely he's already mentioned on here somewhere. Another "great tone no matter what" guy for me. I've seen him play lots of different gear over the years. I do, however, LOVE his Eden tones on my "Casino Lights 99" and "Eric Clapton and Friends" DVDs to name a couple.

Any fans?

He is one of my favored bass players from day one.
I saw him with Phil Collins and many others.
A real cool guy!

Super jealous of you on that one Armin!!

The only time I saw Nathan live was with Clapton the night before he went on to Dallas for Crossroads 2004 (or 2003?). Anyway it was in Little Rock, Arkansas and the venue was so large it could have been Joe Blow playing thru a miked Ibanez practice amp tone-wise. But the playing was unmistakably Nathan all the way!! World class! Do you know if he'd already defected to the Aguilar DB750 by then? Whatever he was playing was loud as hell!!! :D

No idea what he was playing back then.
I guess it doesn't matter with him playing :D

I also love his work with Fourplay.

I also love his work with Fourplay.

Likewise. His tone on the title track of "Elixir" (track 1) is just ridiculous!  I think I remember the liner notes saying he recorded with a Trace on that set.

This is my favorite Nathan East bass track. The song would be nothing without it IMO:

In case that link doesn't work for you it's "Miami" by Randy Newman

Thanks for the videos! Great! I always liked Chuck Loeb. Regardless of his "measuring up" to Rit or Carlton, his impact on the band is note worthy. Take his "3rd Degree" track from Let's Touch the Sky. You can tell the whole band is really pushing--and rightly so. That last couple minutes of unison is just incredible!!

The unison starts around 7:40:
