Seeking Instructor in KC
« on: February 01, 2012, 12:06:15 AM »
Soon-to-be Edenite here.  I'm looking for an electric bass instructor in the Kansas City area.  I've been playing for 2 years, completely self-taught at this point.  Looking to take my abilities to the next level.

My favorite genres are Blues and Contempory Christian (not always in that order [:)]), but enjoy just about everything. I live in northern Johnson county and work near The Triangle. I find myself in western Lenexa and out by the race track fairly frequently. I'm not afraid to travel a bit to work with a good teacher.

I'd PM John the Barbarian, but I'm still too noob to do so.  If John or anyone else has any recommendations, send 'em my way.

Many thanks in advance!

Jon

Hi Jon,
I can't recommend anyone over there, but if you got no luck finding someone
then I can recommend the TMBG. It is a instructional DVD set from Roy Voigt.
It helped me a lot.

There are two people I would recommend, both of whom are on Facebook, first is Andy DeWitt.  He too lives in northern Johnson County.  The second is Paul Greenlease.  Paul lives up north.  They are both awesome players and formally trained.  Given your location, I would start with Andy.  Call the Reece Nichols Roberts office in KCK and they'll put you in touch with me.

Thanks for the input guys!

John - I couldn't help but notice, you didn't recommend yourself.  Is instructing not your thing, or are you just being humble?  [:)]

I've actually taken lessons from both of these guys and they are vastly more knowledgeable than I am.  Give me a call and I'll get you set up.
