How many posts does it take to write PM's?

The resistor in the wire to the gate of the triac, which is switching the transformer, was broken. The problem was an incorrect switching which caused hum, finally the resistor totally failed, opened the circuit and the transformer wasn't supplied by power.
I was wondering about, because I've never seen a broken resistor in it's original color ;-D
