your experience with the Eden EX112??
« on: September 28, 2010, 12:25:59 PM »
How well does the EX112 work for folks?
looking at it as a smaller option for practices, and such.  will it compete with a drummer (heavy-handed drummer)?

thought I'd check in with those in the know.

I don't think that you will get many replies on this one.
As far as I know , no members have seen one to give any comments.
I don't even know if they are available.

if you do a forum search you will find another thread much the same.
A lot of questions with no reply.
If you are after a small 112 look at the D 112xlt , two of them sound better than one but I have rehersed and performed with just a single 112xlt , they are mid range aggressive but you can play with your E Q to get a full sound out of them.

+1 on the D112XLT and I also haven't heard of anyone here
owning a EX112.

I tried one out at my local dealer-I thinks it's great. Really smooth and punchy. I wish they made it in an 8 ohm so you could use two of them with most amps.

yep they're real. My local dealer also has the ex110. It sound just as tight & smooth but the 12 has a noticeable amount of girth that a 10 just can't reproduce.

I tried a WTX264 and the EX112 and it sounded pretty darn good. I wish they were 8 ohm as well - could have a nice little "snowman" stack with the 12/10/head.

I am using Genz Benz (went there after some CS issues) but have debated trying Eden again. I had a WT550 and 210XLT but I want to use something smaller but full sounding. My Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0-12T comb is nice but a little heavy in the upper mids.

Reading from the specs, without having some kind of experience, but just specs wise I'd say that the EX112 is
- Good for small rehearsals,
- Good for at home
- Good for the studio

Eventhough it can handle 300W RMS, I don't think this cab is very efficient, and could probably be compared to a D112XLT at 50W in volume. I don't know exactly but I presume this cab has an efficiency lower than 99dB SPL; which makes it best suited for anything lower than acoustic gigs, jazz gigs, or low volume (if the drummer is playing with brushes or multirods).

I believe this cab was made to be paired with a more mid oriented cab; but probably failed to serve it's purpose.

I'm thinking about building an isolation cabinet around this thing.  Low SPL isn't necessarily a bad thing.  Also running a direct line through the low-end of a crossover.

Any comments on the tonal quality/flatness of frequency response?
(I specifically was interested in this cabinet, as there is no tweeter).

Low volume is not a worry as long as the sound is punchy in a cabinet (will be about 4 feet of air in front of speaker).

Anyone able to elaborate on this cab?  None are at my local music stores to test out.

As for matching a heavy handed drummer with a single 112:
Answer is No. No. No. Period. Maybe if you drop it on his head...

Any reason you can't just put that cab at the end of your signal chain?  Then the lack of 2 inputs doesn't matter.  Of course the problem would come if you wanted to run 2 of them together...then you're stuck.
