I think he means placing the whole amp (minus the top) in a large container filled with rice. The more rice, the better it will absorb the moisture from the amp.
OTOH, if you were to fill the amp with popcorn... [:o)]

VICTORY!!!!!!

Both my WT800 and Samsung 1000w power amp are fully operational!!! I let the units sit for just shy of 3 weeks in a bag filled with rice with the  tops taken off the amps. The rice drew any moisture from the electronics.

What a releief!!!![:p][;)][:p]

You know Armin....there are all kinds of rice puns that could go in here:

rice Job!...
If you plugged it in with the rice still in there would you get fried rice?...
Rice to get it back again...
Have a rice day...
Rice on dude!....

Puns are of course the very lowest form of humor...which is why I use them...don't forget to tip your waitress....drum roll...cymbal crash

As told to uncle Benny said in Lethal Weapon 4:
"Flied lice, you pl*ck!"
This dry humor would fit in a British TV series...

There's a guy - well, older gentleman - in our town who restores and repairs musical instruments, everything from 18th century violins to electric basses and guitars with Steinways and B3's in between. He once showed me a flooded Vox AC-30 full of mud and sh*t. He managed to get the thing in working condition, dried the paper cones and all electronics. He even washed the speaker grille cloth. When he was done it was nicer than before and fully functional. Not to mention the Vox guitar that stood leaning agaist the amp in the muddy water. The body had cracked open like a book, beyond recognition. He fixed that one completely...

Here's a link to him: http://www.musikverkstaden.se/

This is a great story!! Imagine what non-musicians must have thought if they saw your amps covered in boxes of rice. haha! Glad they both work.
