"Customizing" a friend's Eden rig! Heh heh heh...
« on: December 07, 2009, 12:12:32 PM »
My buddy Jeff Whittle from Tiles (Eden endorser) and I are tweaking his bass rig.  He has a WT800B bridged into his 210XST and 410XST stack.  But he's using a few cool stomp boxes, on a Furman pedalboard.  It's a great setup, but a bit time consuming to set up and tear down.

SO I REWIRED IT!  Augh augh augh!!!

I'm running back to his house for Round Tool, er.. I mean, Round Two... to finish a pedalboard snake.  We wrapped his power cable and his signal return cable together, and made them both the same length.  Then we anchored it to his rack case.  Next, is tweaking his pedalboard so he has quick disconnects to plug his snake into, and anchoring those to the board so if anyone trips on his snake on stage, they don't yank the crap out of his pedals.

Photos a-kimbo to come!

Yes like that, except I didn't run the f/s cable in the snake. I thought since it runs power it may cause a buzz. What's your opinion on that Armin?

That midi board prolly only uses 15 volts, and at veeery low current.  As long as the shielding of the other cables are good, you'll be fine.

It's when you run crappy cables alongside 120 volts that you get the really bad interference issues.

Well, we forgot to take pictures, but next time Jeff sets up his rig (and after his new casters and caster mounting plates come in) he'll snap good pictures for me.  But everything works, I redid all the velcro underneath his pedals for him so they don't wiggle as much, and then we enjoyed some liquid entertainment as we watched Monday Night Foo_ball.  \\m/ \\m/

An aside......I saw Pat Travers at a bar down the street last year and his bass player looked just like Tim Allen!

Now back to pedal snakes.....

Yes!  Back to pedal snakes!  They sound so much better after a really stiff Captain Morgan n Coke!  YUM!

Must admit... no longer sober.  It's been a goooood afternoon, turning into a goooood evening.

Merry Axemas to all y'all.  He's currently at band practice, giving his new setup a good test-drive.

As Bryan said, if you use high Q cables it should be no problem.
I use cables that are normaly used for servo or step motors. They do have a very good shielding.
In my cable each signal wire has a single shield, plus all signal wires and all regular wires do have a common shield, plus a shield around the whole package.
