A majority of the "bass" line in Peter Gabriel's SO release is done on the Chapman Stick.

A LOT of King Crimson uses the Stick. Elephant Talk is probably the most known example.

Trey Gunn uses the Warr guitar and has several releases out with it.

update: Here's a clip I made a couple years ago as part of a "whats that thing?" web page... It's Stick with only some reverb on it - both hands engaged... http://clbe.net/head_like_a_hole.mp3

Alright - it's geek-time!

the majority of the "bass" on Peter Gabriel's SO is in fact not Stick.  This is a common fallacy. Here's a breakdown by track:

Red Rain         - Stick
Sledgehammer     - fretless bass (played with pick thru octaver)
Don't Give Up    - bass
That Voice Again - Stick
In Your Eyes     - Larry Klein doesn't play Stick AFAIK, but Tony Levin is also credited with bass on this track, so there may be Stick on this track.
Mercy Street     - Larry Klein on bass
Big Time         - synth bass, with 4 bars of Jerry Marotta playing on Tony's bass with drumsticks while Tony fretted the notes. (continued)

We Do What We're Told - no bass on track
This Is The Picture - Bill Laswell on bass

in conclusion - if you tally up the stick tracks even including the possibility that In Your Eyes has stick on it, the majority of the bass-ness is coming from bass guitar.

Other CDs to check out for Stick -- newer King Crimson. TWO bass/stick players in the band.

And if you have a chance to catch Blue Man Group live, the pit band has a smokin' stick player. There's a CD out as well.

...and there you have it. I generalized and got caught in a generalization that ends up being wrong. Red Rain and That Voice Again use the Stick.

*sigh*

How about I can play the whole album on Stick? Its true. :)

Tony Levin uses the Stick quite a bit on the Liquid Tension Experiment albums.  John Myung uses the stick a bit with Dream Theater, most notably on "New Millenium"

There's a guy on the local scene around here that uses the NS/Stick, that thing is really smokin.  I've been jonesing for one for a while, but then again I have no money.

Anyone wanna give me a WT-400???
Beware the fiscal array.

So, I had no idea what you guys where even talking about... Is it a bass? what the he11 are these guys talking about.  So, I Googled it.  HOLY CRAP.  I need one of these, I may be in love.  I'm not the best bass player that ever lived, but I'd like to say that I'm solid, but I may be moving on. (I'm sorta kidding, I think)  http://www.stick.com/method/

the two video clips on this totally blew me away.  Is that a bass? what the heck is that thing?

Well, it's half bass, half guitar (or half "melody" strings, as Stickist tend to refer to it [:)] ), though a lot of people mistakenly only seem to think of it as some kind of a "super-bass" of sorts, probably largely through TLev's incredible Stick bass playing with Gabriel and King Crimson.
After years of wanting one myself I finally got a new 10-string Stick in August and have been enjoying it to death ever since. I've been mainly using it for recording, but this Friday will be the first time I take it out on a live gig (using my newly bought CXC210, which is why I'm here in the forum for the first time tonight...howdy folks! [:D]).

The method video you saw on the Stick site features Greg Howard, who's definitely quite the monster player...but if you thought those videos were cool, then you should definitely check out this 10 minute live Greg Howard video which is even more wild:

Sweet - a new Stick convert (puffy) and an a Stick/Eden player (Har). The CXC combos are the best possible single unit for Stick because of the coax tweeters. As soon as David gets that WP100 flaw to me, I'll be experimenting with it to ensure "Stick-ness".

Greg Howard is seriously good. There are seminars scattered across the country where he and other greats spend a weekend with 30 or so Stick geeks teaching methods for all levels. The next one is the Midwest Seminar in Ann Arbor... June. Check out the details at stick.com.

puffy - the Stick is best described as a "piano with frets". Notes are played simply by 'fretting' them - just like a piano in that you simply strike the key to make the note. It has an incredible range and the tonality is well... unique and adaptable.

I've got a track thats ALL stick except for the drum loop. Check out http://music.download.com/clbe - grab the Leaving the Comfort track (it's free).

Welcome both of you and thanks for posting.

Just listened to "Leaving The Comfort", Clbe...really nice! [:)]
I like the "Sheltering Sky" style opening groove, and the lead tone reminds me a bit of Jim Marten from The Mermen...a really nice mix of different textures, very good stuff! [:D]

I don't have any all-Stick tracks available to hear yet, but there are a few that I've played Stick on amongst other things. If you go to the "Listen" section of my website at http://www.ambientguitarist.com, you'll find two songs that I played Stick on:

-- "No Chance To Dream" I did with Christus and The Cosmonaughts for a limited release EP with BLR Records; the bass part is actually the very first thing I recorded on Stick (actually, the first day I plugged it in, which says something about how quickly someone can take to the instrument. The guy got all excited I had a new Stick and wanted something right away...no pressure, eh? LOL), and I also did the slide guitar solo at the end (not on Stick, though) as well as the drum programming.

-- "XACTO" is a tune I did with the UK electronic artist Kriminal for his recent CD "Vapour Trails"; I played Stick bass on here as well as the guitars. I was going for more of a heavy Korn-style drop-tuning bass sound on the Stick, but tightly locked to synth-bass at the same time...a bit different from the usual prog-style Stick stuff. [;)]
